Plus, when the site itself says that players can change the galaxy, just like the X series and EVE Online who are known for their player run stories you could assume it's aiming for a 4x/EVE style gameplay:įly alone or with friends, fight for a cause or go it alone your actions change the galaxy around you in an ever unfolding story.Ive gotten a bit bored of xrebirth of late - and im interested in Elite dangerous now that its price tag has been reduced to £50.00 = ( $79.85 ). So why shouldn't we able to in the year 3301? Humanity right now can practically "global chat" with anyone else due to the internet. Being in a 1:1 galaxy can be very lonely and having a global chat could be a huge boost to social interaction and make mundane activities such as mining, trading, and exploring more fun because you can talk to your friends while doing so. It is kind of a shame that the global community is not as connected as it should be. David Braben said he didn't want guilds dominating the early game so there may be a possibly they'll slowly give player groups more and more power as time goes on as with player wings being announced. Obviously ED isn't "spreadsheat simulator" or "empire builder X" but it incorporates elements from both. In my opinion I believe you are wrong to an extent. I really hope ED turns out well it is indeed very easy to like and being pretty and social is enough of a foundation to make it into a great game, but it's still got quite a large overhaul to do. And that's not a compliment to Rebirth, more a criticism against ED. My car has a rear camera, but apparently some people think ED is being dumbed down if spaceships also have similar cameras.įor me ED is like a pretty and social person whereas Rebirth is an ugly and odd person. I can actually look at other ships, including my own. It has lots of empty space like ED but gives you an option to quickly travel through it via highways painlessly. There's more to a sector than simply docking at the one station it has, checking a bulletin board, and then flying off to the next sector. Can control other ships, can build own stations, can shoot pirates without being shot at by police who are also shooting at the same pirates (I'm pretty sure this is a bug or oversight which has been branded into a 'feature' now).A single fighter is not the apex predator in the universe. Seriously, why do ships gather at navigational beacons? It's such an artificial gimmick for a game that relies on immersion. NPC ships actually do things like trade and fight each other, not flying about at Nav Beacons (which is light years away from anything) pretending to do stuff. You can go FTL but have no internet in this game universe!? Manual trading (the dullest part of any space game) is not the only option for me if I want to partake in trade and, what should be mandatory in every trading game, I can check the wares of a station without having to physically be inside that station. For trading I can check a station's wares without docking in it and I can hire other traders to do it for me. Bigger stations, more things happening in sectors, factions etc. What crappy X-Rebirth(modded) has relative to ED: In fact it's so pretty that people can actually excuse it as a 'space truck simulator' in the absence of real content (I don't believe ED ever intended to be only as such though as it's advertised as a 4x, not 1x, game).
